Legal & Licensing
Last updated: September 10, 2026
1. Ownership
Dalang (formerly "Campaign Dashboard") is an independent project created and owned by Salahuddin (BukanPawkemon). All original code, design, artwork, and written content in this app belong to the creator, except for the third-party and licensed material listed below.
You are welcome to use, enjoy, and share Dalang. You are not permitted to resell, redistribute, or claim the app (or its source code) as your own work.
2. What You're Allowed to Do
When you download Dalang, you get a personal license to:
- Install and run the app on your own devices
- Use it to prepare and run your own tabletop campaigns
- Create and use your own homebrew content (monsters, items, equipment) within the app
- Export and share your own campaign data with your own players or other DMs
You are not permitted to:
- Share or redistribute copies of the app itself, anyone who wants it should get it from the official source (itch.io / GitHub), not a copy from you
- Resell or sublicense the app
- Reverse-engineer the app in order to build and sell a competing product
- Remove or alter copyright/attribution notices from the app
3. Attributions & Licensing
Wizards of the Coast
Dalang is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC or Hasbro. All D&D-related trademarks, including "Dungeons & Dragons" and "D&D," belong to their respective owners.
System Reference Document
Dalang's Compendium includes reference content from the Dungeons & Dragons System Reference Document, both the 2014 rules and the 2024 rules, licensed by Wizards of the Coast under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License:
This work includes material from the System Reference Document 5.1 ("SRD 5.1") by Wizards of the Coast LLC and available at https://dnd.wizards.com/resources/systems-reference-document. The SRD 5.1 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.
This work includes material from the System Reference Document 5.2.1 ("SRD 5.2.1") by Wizards of the Coast LLC, available at https://www.dndbeyond.com/srd. The SRD 5.2.1 is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, available at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.
The Compendium data is compiled and cross-checked by this project and published openly at github.com/BukanPawkemon/dalang-data. The official SRD text hosted by D&D Beyond and Wizards of the Coast is the primary source; the community projects 5e-bits/5e-database and open5e were used as references during compilation.
Fonts
Dalang bundles three typefaces, all under the SIL Open Font License, version 1.1: Cinzel (The Cinzel Project Authors), Spectral (The Spectral Project Authors), and IBM Plex Mono (IBM Corp., with Reserved Font Name "Plex"). The full license text ships with the app and is available at openfontlicense.org.
D&D Beyond character import
The "Import from D&D Beyond" feature, in both Dalang Desktop and Dalang Web, adapts the armor class and hit point calculations from MrPrimate/ddb-importer, used under the MIT License.
Open-source software
Dalang is built with open-source software, including React and React DOM (MIT, Meta Platforms Inc.), lucide-react icons (ISC, Lucide Contributors), react-markdown and remark-gfm (MIT), qrcode (MIT), and, in Dalang Web, @supabase/supabase-js (MIT).
4. Homebrew & User-Generated Content
Dalang lets you create your own homebrew monsters, magic items, and equipment, and lets you write your own campaign content (locations, NPCs, quests, lore, notes).
All homebrew and user-generated content is created by you, the user, and is your own responsibility. This content is not reviewed, moderated, verified, or endorsed by the creator of Dalang. If you choose to share your homebrew or campaign files with others, you are responsible for what you share.
5. Privacy (Dalang Desktop)
Dalang Desktop runs entirely on your own device. All campaign data is stored locally in a file on your computer.
- No account is required to use the desktop app
- No campaign data, homebrew content, or personal information is collected, transmitted, or stored on any server
- The creator of Dalang has no access to your campaign data unless you choose to share it directly (for example, sending an exported file to someone)
App fonts are bundled with the app, so the desktop app does not contact any font CDN at startup.
6. Dalang Web (Privacy & Terms)
Dalang Web is the browser version at app.dalang.page. Unlike the desktop app, it uses an account and stores your campaigns on a server, so it has its own privacy and terms.
What Dalang Web stores
- Your account email and username, held by the authentication provider (Supabase) so you can sign in.
- Your campaigns and everything in them, in the project database (Supabase, Singapore region).
- Technical logs from the hosting providers (Cloudflare and Supabase), including IP addresses, kept to run and secure the service.
- Anonymous usage analytics (Google Analytics), only if you accept the cookie notice. It records structural events like "a campaign was created", never the content of your campaigns. You can decline and use the app normally.
- When you register, the fact that you agreed to these terms, with the date.
Do not put real personal data into your campaigns. Dalang is for fictional game content. We do not sell your data, use your campaign content to train anything, or share it with anyone beyond the infrastructure providers above.
Your rights
Export a full copy of any campaign at any time from Campaign Settings. To close your account and delete your campaigns, or for any other request, email support@dalang.page. You must be at least 13 to create an account.
Terms of Use
By creating an account you agree that: Dalang Web is a free beta, so features may change and it may be unavailable at times, and while we take care with your data we do not guarantee against loss, keep your own exported backups. You are responsible for activity under your account, one person per account, and you must be at least 13. Your content is yours and your responsibility; it is not reviewed or approved before it is stored. The read-only player link makes the curated parts of a campaign visible to anyone with the link, so treat anything you put in a campaign, including image links you paste, as something other people will see. Do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts, and do not resell access. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Dalang Web is provided "as is" without warranty; to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage, including data loss. These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia. Dalang Web is run by Salahuddin (BukanPawkemon), Indonesia.
Content rules (Dalang Web)
Do not use Dalang Web to create, store, or share:
- Sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, including drawings, written text, and AI-generated images. We report this to the authorities and remove the account.
- Content that harasses, threatens, defames, or targets a real person, or that publishes a real person's private information.
- Hate speech or slurs that attack a group of people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or a similar characteristic.
- Content that is illegal where you live or in Indonesia, or that encourages serious real-world harm.
- Images or text you do not have the right to use, once the rights holder has asked us to remove it.
Fictional violence, morally grey characters, dark themes, and mature story content are a normal part of tabletop roleplaying and are fine here. The rules above are about real harm, hate, and content involving minors, not about the tone of your story.
Reporting content, and takedown requests
If you think something on Dalang Web breaks these rules, or a player link is being used to share content that does, email support@dalang.page with the link or a description of what you found. Copyright and other rights holders can use the same address to ask for content to be removed: please include the material in question, where it appears, and enough detail for us to confirm you hold the rights. We review reports by hand and can remove specific content, disable a player link, or suspend an account. Dalang Web is run by one person during the beta, so we cannot promise a fixed response time, but reports involving minors are acted on as fast as we can.
7. No Warranty
Dalang is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. While care is taken to avoid bugs and data loss, the creator cannot guarantee the app will be error-free or uninterrupted.
You are encouraged to back up important campaign files, especially before major updates. The creator is not liable for any data loss, corruption, or other damages resulting from use of the app.
8. Misuse of the App
Dalang is a tool for organizing and running tabletop roleplaying games. It has no built-in capability for illegal activity, and the creator does not build, endorse, or support any use of the app for unlawful or harmful purposes.
If a user misuses this app for illegal or harmful purposes, that responsibility belongs entirely to that user, not to the creator of the app. The creator is not liable for how individual users choose to use the software, in the same way a notebook manufacturer isn't responsible for what someone chooses to write in a notebook.
If you become aware of the app being used in a way that violates the law or causes harm, please reach out at support@dalang.page so it can be looked into.
9. Donations
Dalang is free to download and use. If you choose to leave a donation, it's voluntary and non-refundable, thank you for supporting the project. If something's not working right, reach out at support@dalang.page, most issues (bugs, confusion about features, etc.) can usually be resolved directly.
10. Changes to This Document
This page may be updated as the app develops. Significant changes will be noted with an updated "last updated" date at the top.
